Big Bang, a K-pop band which is very popular across Eastern Asia, is celebrating their 10th anniversary with a world tour (the Concert: 0.to.10) this winter. But their fans are very sad.
It’s because, starting with the eldest member Choi Seung-hyun (최승현, aka, T.O.P) on February 9, 2017, all of the band’s five members are about to leave the group to serve the military in turn.
South Korean conscription law requires male citizens between 19 and 29 years of age to enlist in the military and serve the 2-year mandatory service.
So, T.O.P will be away until 2019, Taeyang and G-Dragon from 2017 to 2019, Daesung from 2018 to 2020, and the youngest Seungri born in December, 1990, from 2019 to 2021.
That means, the five members of Big Bang will not be able to perform together until 2022 unless the rest of members enlist at the same time and come back earlier, which they said they might.
Big Bang has just finished their anniversary tour in Japan and been awarded in the Japan Record Awards 2016. Their 0 to 10 tour finale will be on January 21, 2017 in Hong Kong.
Because Big Bang members are very talented, I believe that they will be able to maintain their success in the music industry, and wish them well.
